Obituary for Candido Duyan Natividad

Candido Duyan Natividad, 86

Candido Duyan Natividad, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Monday, September 23, 2019 at his Kihei home. He was the husband of Celedonia Narito Natividad. They shared 46 years of marriage together.

Born in the province of Pangasinaan in the Philippines, he was the son of Antonio Natividad and Catalina Duyan and the eldest of 13 siblings. He graduated from Binalonan High School, Philippines, and worked as a carpenter before moving to Hawai`i in 1969. He then became a carpenter foreman for Kenneth General Construction in O`ahu from 1969-1981, then relocated to Maui to work as both a utility worker at Sheraton Lahaina from 1982-1995 and a security guard for Wackenhut Maui from 1990 until his retirement in 1997.

Papa Candi is survived by spouse Celedonia and children Hilda (Sonny Cabaya – deceased), Gavin (Erlinda), Estrelita (Rodrigo Domingo – deceased), Estela (Daniel Garcia), Antonio, Kenneth (Robin), Grace (Donald Gerard), Gilbert, Joyce (Jimmy Del Rosario) and hanai-daughter Chelsey Leilani (Travis Kahaleauki), as well as 32 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by parents Antonio and Catalina,
brothers Rafael and Eddie, sister Marivick, and daughter Estrella.

Funeral services to honor his life will be Friday, October 11, 2019 at Norman Mortuary in Wailuku, Maui. Viewing will begin at 9am with burial to follow at Valley Isle Memorial Park, Haiku.
