Obituary

Kathleen Ann “Kathie” Adelson, 60, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully at Islands Hospice on November 27th, surrounded by family members.

She was born on February 1, 1959 in Long Beach, California to Jacob and Audrey (Rocha) Hudson. Her family returned to Hawaii in 1960 and Kathie graduated from Castle High School, Kaneohe in 1977.
As a teenager, Kathie became interested in her Portuguese ancestry and co-founded a folklore group Juventude Portuguesa Cultural Performers in 1974. The group performed on the Big Island, Maui, Kauai and Oahu. Kathie was both a teacher and a dancer. In 1980, Kathie relocated with her family to Maui and was employed at the Maui Marriott Hotel.

She moved to California in 1984 and went on to become an OSHA compliance officer with certificates in construction, first aid and forklift training. She worked in the hotel industry in Los Angeles and Palm Springs before returning to Maui. She was an employee of Job Corps Hawaii at Maunaolu at the time of her death.
Kathie is survived by her mother Audrey Rocha Reed and step-father Carlos Hernández and by brothers Jacob V. (Steffi) Hudson, Jr., Lawrence (Jackie) Hudson, Harold “Ivan” (Elsie) Luce; a hanai sister Cindy Kauhane; nieces Tiare Hudson and Brenda Luce, and her former husband Stuart Adelson. She leaves behind numerous cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father Jacob V. Hudson.

A celebration of Kathie’s life will be held on Saturday, December 28 at 6 P.M. at Heritage Hall, 401 Baldwin Avenue in Paia.

I’m so sorry to hear of Kathy’s passing.Not so long
We talked on the phone about the good times we
Had together with had with Lester an d Ann.I told her how much I loved her for being with me when Ann passed away. I know they are together again.When I visited the family they always treat me like one of them. I will never forget Kathy
