Obituary for Paul Richard Reel

Paul Richard Reel was born on February 19, 1948 in Hawthorn, California. Parents, Melba Van Os Reel, and Harold Richard Reel. Paul grew up loving and learning to surf in Manhatten Beach.

He graduated at Pacific High School in Garden Grove, California Class of 1967.
Paul moved to New Port and Huntington Beach and spent his free time surfing. He became an expert surfboard maker, working and managing several surfboard shops over the years until owning his own shop. He took many surfing safaris in Mexico and Central America.

Paul was also employed for many decades as a Union Carpenter. He helped build an amazing sailboat. When it was built, it was asked to sail to Maui, with a crew of 20 including himself. Paul decided to stay on Maui, it was a dream come true for him. He then moved to the Big Island, bought a piece of land, and built his home in Kurtistown.

Paul never married, had no children, but he had many friends, girlfriends, loving life at it's fullest. He had a green thumb and always grew amazing flowers which he cut into bouquets for his friends.

Paul had a long battle with cancer, and will truly be missed! He will have a ceremony and memorial at Baldwin Beach on the island of Maui on a later date.
